  2. Click on the correct link to go to the subject's page.
  3. The page URL should look like https://www.eol.org/pages/#######, where "#######" indicates a number.
  4. Copy ONLY that number
  5. Add that number to the corresponding Wikidata item, using [Lua error in Module:Wikibase at line 27: attempt to index field 'wikibase' (a nil value). Lua error in Module:Wikibase at line 40: attempt to index field 'wikibase' (a nil value). (P830)].
  6. Add to the external links section the text:
* {{EOL}}

Alternatively:

Add to the external links section the text:

* {{EOL|#######|label}}
where "#######" is the number you've copied, and "label" is the full title of the EOL article, for example: Pogonomyrmex anergismus

Example[edit source]

  1. Search for Nicrophorus americanus on eol.org. You'll get to this page: https://www.eol.org/pages/1044544
  2. Copy "1044544" and add this number as the first parameter, then copy "Nicrophorus americanus" and add it as the second parameter:
{{EOL|1044544|Nicrophorus americanus}}

The result on the page Nicrophorus americanus is:

"Nicrophorus americanus" at the Encyclopedia of Life

Typically this is a list item in the external links section (even if there is only one link), so you should add "*" in front.
