Usage[edit source]

This template is part of a group of templates that are used to display information about a specific extrasolar planet. The {{Planetbox begin}} is always the first in the list, while {{Planetbox end}} is always the last in the list. This particular template specifies the separation between the star and planet as observed at a particular time. It is used as follows:

{{Planetbox separation
| position_angle = <!--position angle, in degrees -->
| epoch = <!--Epoch of observation -->
| separation_mas = <!--observed separation, in milliarcseconds (mas)-->
| separation = <!--observed separation, in astronomical units (AU)-->
| t_approach = <!--time of closest approach of source to lens system (Julian date, JD)-->
| alpha = <!-- angle between source trajectory and lens system axis (degrees) -->
}}

It is suggested that separation_angle, epoch, separation_mas and possibly separation be used in the case of planets detected by imaging, and that t_approach, alpha, and possibly separation be used in the case of planets detected by microlensing.

The following templates are used together and are usually placed in the order listed below.

{{Planetbox begin}}
{{Planetbox image}}
{{Planetbox star}}
{{Planetbox star detail}}
{{Planetbox separation}}
{{Planetbox orbit}}
{{Planetbox character}}
{{Planetbox discovery}}
{{Planetbox catalog}}
{{Planetbox reference}}
{{Planetbox end}}
