Richard Luschek is a paying instructor and illustrator who is known for proceeding a large number of HârnWorld article and cover illustrations for Columbia Games (CGI).
Work with Columbia Games[edit | edit source]
Luschek is the Illustrator and Art Director for all of the CGI Hârn releases. He also on some of the blocks games for CGI, such as Samurai group for their Ancient Kings game.
According to his mini-bio on the Columbia Games blog, he started playing D&D with his 7th grade teacher after school in 1981. While looking for a more realistic system, the gaming group tried and loved Dragon Quest.[1] Using those rules they began playing in the Hârn setting in 1985. He states that they “were attracted to the system like most were by the great maps, thorough world view , and the illustrations of Eric Hotz”. They eventually converted to HârnMaster core, which his gaming group still uses—with occasional pieces from HârnMaster 3rd Edition and house rules.
Personal life[edit | edit source]
Richard is 54 years old. He attended Lynchburg-Clay High School graduating in 1984. He has a biology degree and a fine arts degree from University of Cincinnati. Luschek learned to draw and paint in New Hampshire studying with Paul Ingbretson. After 3 years there he returned home to Cincinnati where he owns a huge 100 year old house with 8 tenants living above where he and his wife of 26 years live. He has a studio which he opened in 2005 in a local park where he paints still life, landscape and portrait. Richard teaches landscape classes in the warm months and offers private instruction and drawing and painting classes in the winter.
Luschek has a painting in the Cincinnati Art Museum’s permanent collection and in various collecting in town and on the East Coast.[2]
